Our annual Run for the Son 5k/10k is just around the corner on February 1st! Radiate Students and their parents, the Radiate Staff and a whole slew of the best volunteers will all get up way before the sun to come be a part of the race as well as many people from our community and our church. Why? Because this race helps to provide funding for many of our students to be part of an International Mission Trip to the United Kingdom in the summer of 2020 and it funds the Eric Petty Memorial Scholarship.We believe in providing this opportunity for students to learn to live missionally, to share the gospel and to equip them to be leaders in their community.
Did you know that our Run for the Son 5k/10k is not just for runners!? It’s true that we’ve got electronic timing and real time results and medals and all that great runner stuff and we’re very excited about some cool upgrades this year.
But Run for the Son is also for walkers, it’s for strollers, it’s for dogs, it’s for people who want to mosey along and enjoy a chicken biscuit and some coffee while they hang out with their friends. Run for the Son is a family event!
We also know that not everybody enjoys or is able to walk/jog/run three miles outside in the middle of winter. We know that there are grandparents that live in North Carolina or Illinois who want to support their grandkids by sponsoring them but are just not going to be able to be there on the race day. We know there are people who just want to support a good cause. So we’ve got another way that you are able to support this special event. We call it the Phantom Runner Option.
How does it work? Simply click the link below and register as a phantom runner rather than selecting the fun run, 5k or 10k. Cost is $25. If you would like to sponsor a particular student, fill in the name when prompted. Along the way you’ll have to fill in some info just like all the runners do, but we promise no one will make you run. You’ll have the option to receive the t-shirt (a long sleeve cotton tee with the Run for the Son logo) or opt out. We’ll have t-shirt pickup the morning of the race or on Sundays after the race as long as sizes are available.
