Sunday started with one of the fastest turn arounds on the longest. day. ever! After traveling from ATL to Turkey and then from Turkey to Kenya, we landed around 2:30 AM and made it to our lodging around 5 AM. After a quick shower and breakfast, we packed lunches and headed to go to church at our ministry partner for today, Gospel Center International.
Our students were quickly immersed into the African culture and the different ways they worship. Our morning started with an hour long prayer time led by a deacon to prepare for the morning worship services and evening concert. Their worship was loud and interactive and the students loved it! Pastor Mike preached at GCI today as well.
The students led a short time of worship during the services to promote a concert they were doing this evening. As the day progressed their confidence was bolstered and all of their hard work and preparation kicked into gear.
Following the morning services we grabbed a quick bite (that’s what all the PB&J we packed was for!) and split up into teams to share the news of our evening concert and give opportunities for students to have gospel conversations.
GCI’s worship team and some local talent started off our evening concert. Our students dug deep for some extra energy and did a fantastic job leading worship and sharing their stories tonight. We sang, we laughed, we cried and we shared the hope of Jesus. We are so proud of them!
How can you pray specifically for us today? Our spirits are good, but we are tired!!! We’ve just gotten everybody fed and they have turned in for the night. Please pray that we will wake up refreshed and ready for a busy day. Tomorrow we’re heading out to visit local schools.
