It’s amazing what a good night’s sleep can do! This morning we had breakfast at 5:30 and headed out by 6:30. The air was charged with excitement for what the day held and we were rested and ready to go.
We’ve had Peter Abungu and his team from Swahiba Ministries helping us coordinate with our local partners and traveling with us. They have helped make sure we have the food we need, the security in place to keep the students safe, and handled a million other details that I can’t even begin to imagine them all. We are so thankful for the time and preparation he has put into making this mission successful. Today we worked with a very large church, Nairobi Chapel, near their main location and at a church plant, Nairobi Chapel Dagoretti.
We started the day at Kinyan Jui Road Primary School, a public school where the majority of the children come from very poor homes. Nairobi Chapel has been working alongside the school. We led a small time of worship for over 2,000 students ranging from 5-14 years old and then followed that time by sending a team of students or adults into every single classroom to present the gospel. We saw many salvations and encountered many who already know and have a relationship with Jesus.
We spent some time touring Nairobi Chapel (I’m pretty sure it’s bigger than BHBC, y’all!) and then took to the streets with locals from their church. We had the opportunity to have many gospel conversations and invite people to attend Nairobi Chapel.
We then loaded up and headed to a much smaller medical boarding school with students in their late teens and early 20’s, where we had a little break and led a short time of worship. We followed that up with some street evangelism, pairing up with locals from the Nairobi Chapel Dagoretti. We saw many students engage in gospel conversations during our time there today. It is so amazing to watch students come out of their shells and find such boldness to share the love and hope of Jesus.
Our late afternoon and early evening were filled with a trip to a plaza where we sang our short program and spent time talking to people in the crowd two different times.
We’re estimating we presented the gospel to over 4,000 people today!!
We wrapped our night up with a yummy dinner and a time of worship, followed by a devotional from Peter Abungu. It was a great opportunity to be filled back up after a day of giving so much.
Specific Prayer Requests for today:
First, let’s take a minute to rejoice over all those seeds that were planted and over the numerous people that stepped into a relationship with Jesus today!
Secondly, traveling is hard and takes it’s toll on our bodies. Many students have been running on adrenaline and are coming to the end of their own strength, both physically and emotionally. Pray that we would allow God to provide a strength that we can only say comes directly from God. Pray that their voices would stay strong and their night of rest would leave them feeling refreshed and ready to face the challenges of the day. Pray that God would provide exactly the right words so they can share the gospel with confidence and boldness tomorrow.
Thank you for your prayers!
