On February 1st, a cold day right in the middle of winter, Radiate Students and parents and Radiate Staff and a whole slew of the best volunteers will all get up way before the sun to come be a part of the annual Run for the Son 5k/10k Race. Why? Because this race helps to provide funding for many of our students to be part of an International Mission Trip in the summer of 2020 and funds the Eric Petty Memorial Scholarship. We believe in providing this opportunity for students to learn to live missionally, to share the gospel and to be leaders in their community.
Here are a few interesting tidbits about Run for the Son:
- The Run for the Son 5k/10k has been around for over 20 years! It’s a great family event, and is the perfect opportunity to help you get off to strong start with your 2020 fitness goals.
- As part of their requirements each student will be looking for a total of 10 runners (including themselves) and working at the event. Signups for our student volunteers begin at our State of Radiate meeting on 1/12, first come, first served.
- We work really hard behind the scenes to find corporate sponsors to help cover the cost of the event. We’ve got a great lineup of NEW sponsors this year and many returning sponsors as well. We are so thankful for our amazing sponsors!!
- This race wouldn’t accomplish its purpose without each runner, phantom runner and corporate sponsor that participates. Be sure to find a student to sponsor who’s raising funds to go on the 2020 International Mission Trip.
